2018 APRU Global Health Case Competition Finalists

The working theme for this year’s case competition is “Reducing Mental Health Stigma among University Students”.

Overview of the Challenge

Suicide is preventable. Yet, it is a leading cause of death among students in many Pacific Rim economies. Universities are increasingly prioritizing mental health services in order to help prevent suicide and to improve overall student performance and well-being. However, studies have found that even when mental health care services are available, the vast majority of students suffering from depression and other mental health issues do not utilize them; one important reason is stigma. More efforts are needed to find effective ways to reduce stigma associated with mental health care among college students.

With this, here are the following finalists for the case competition:

1) University Gadjah Mada

2) University of Malaya

3) Our Lady of Fatima University

4) University of Southern California

The winning team will be announced at the 2018 conference in Malaysia on Oct 30, 2018.
